Punch Out and Night Driving

Happy Friday!
Punch Out
Last Punch Out. Tonight. 11pm. Brave New Workshop. This is a great way for you to see some awesome improv and support the Twin Cities Improv Festival. Five Man Job vs Ferrari McSpeedy. It’s going to be a bloodbath.
Night Driving
Immediately after the Saturday showing of Old Enough To Know Better (Have you been to see it yet? Check it out! 730pm.) I will be hopping in my car and heading to Chicago. The drive from MPLS to CHGO is boring enough with daylight. Taking that away and replacing it with night will be kind of a drag. On the plus side, I’ll have plenty of time to…think. Thinking’s fun. Nothing wrong with thinking. Nope, not one damn thing. Maybe I’ll think my way into a finished Fringe show and 10-20 sketches about the upcoming presidential election. I “mind write” a ton of stuff while on long car trips. If only I had a printer that took what was in my brain and put it instantly to paper. God, that would be sweet.
Talk to you soon?

No More Fighting

No More Fighting
I can’t do it anymore. Butch is way too good of a friend of mine to continue this silly bickering. Please just come to Punch Out (11pm. BNW. Friday) if you get a chance. It’ll be two wonderful groups, Ferrari McSpeedy and Five Man Job bringing lots of laughter to the people. Fighting just ruins the experience for everyone. So seriously, I’m done with the fighting. Butch, you’re a great guy. And a really good Dad, when you feel like being one.

Butch Roy must fall

Happy Wednesday!
It was brought and now I’m bringing it back
Friday night at 11pm at the BNW, Ferrari McSpeedy is competing against Five Man Job in Punch Out. Butch Roy sure has been talking a lot of shit lately. A LOT OF SHIT. I like Dan. I like Lauren. Ferrari McSpeedy will not be slaughtering them with light hearts. Unfortunately, they will be innocent victims of the brutality that their red headed ring leader has brought upon them. If there was a way for Joe and I to spare them, we would. Sadly, there isn’t. Butch Roy must fall. And on Friday, he will topple like so many loose stones. There’s an upside to Butch’s demise. At least we won’t have to read 15 blogs a day about his magical theater that still doesn’t exist.

So Many Things That You Need To Read
Tuesday, May 27th, 2008 | Plugs, Site News | 11 Comments
Happy Tuesday! Be warned, this blog is chock full of valuable information!
The BNW Is Civil?
Do you hate rude, inconsiderate people? Well, so does the BNW. Check out the link on the left sidebar for Return To Civility, the bnw’s answer to our crass world. Get information about the book. Take a look at one of the 365 things you can do to make the world a more civil place. Oh, and buy it.
Ferrari At Six Ring
Tonight, Ferrari McSpeedy, the greatest improv duo in the world, will be performing as part of Six Ring Circus. Come see us along with a few other student teams tear up the stage with the funny. Seriously, Joe and I are fantastic. Yeah, I’m bragging, but Ferrari’s done some amazing sets lately and not nearly enough people have come to see them. I’m making it my mission to change that.
Ferrari At Punch Out
Friday night! 11pm. BNW. Ferrari vs. Five Man Job. It’ll be epic. Plus, it’s your last chance to lend some support to the Twin Cities Improv Festival since all (I think!) proceeds go to the festival.
Fringe
It’s coming along. I finally know what I’m writing about. This week is all about turning in stuff that’s due by June 1st. True to form, I’ve not been doing a good job of keeping up with such silliness. Silliness, of course, being all of the things that will maybe get people to the show.
Book
I’m gonna write one. Watch me.
Dinner With Fotis
Ever had a shitty job? Got a good story about it? I’m looking for 3 or 4 good stories about you and your crappy job for the next installment of DWF. If you’re interested, leave a comment below.
Brave New Workshop At 50: Old Enough To Know Better
Only a few more chances left to catch this show. Don’t live a life of regret. Tickets

Happy Memorial Day

Happy Monday!
Gardening, grilling and being thankful for sacrifices made on a scale so large that I can’t really comprehend them. Not a bad way to spend the day.
Tomorrow will be a blog chick full of useful and delightful information.

Indiana Jones Is Good and Punch Out

Happy Friday!
Indiana Jones
It’s good. I liked it a lot. They far outweighed the parts I hated. The choice to make Marion Ravenswood mentally retarded was a brave choice indeed. FOTI
Punch Out
Mustache Rangers vs. Family Night. 11pm. $10. BNW.
Sorry for the short blog, nothing but meetings and shows today and tonight. I want to expand on what I like about Indy, but will wait so as not to spoil some stuff for folks who maybe haven’t caught it yet.
Allergy Attack!

Happy Thursday!
Allergy Attack
Holy crap. This morning and afternoon has been an all out barrage on my sinuses. It’s as if all of the pollen, dander, grass and mold in the world rose up and flew into my nose this morning. My nose was swollen shut from inside my sinuses. Does that make sense? It was as if it sealed up in the back of my throat. Snot was everywhere. I had a 15 minute sneezing attack. I couldn’t take in air (I know. Obviously I had to have taken in some air. Shut up.) without triggering a sneezing fit. All of this took place in the lobby of a major company that I was shooting promotional videos for. The last 3 hours have been a blur. I am filled to the brim with allergy medicine and can barely stay awake. I almost fell asleep in the middle of a scene. Holy smokes, folks. Holy smokes. I think it’s time to give this Zrytec stuff a shot. Oh, who am I kidding? I’ll just buy some Wal-I-Tin (I’m guessing that’s not how it’s spelled). I have no idea how this stuff is different from what I’m currently taking, but people speak of it as if it were the follow up to the Bible, so I’ll give her a go.
Talk to you tomorrow. I should be in better spirits, what with Indiana Jones in my future and all. You’ll know if we’re in the same theater. I’ll be the asshole who can’t stop sneezing.

Holy Shit and Indiana

Happy Wednesday!
Holy Shit
The Chicago Bulls (A professional basketball team for those of you that don’t know) had only a 1.7% chance of getting the number one pick in last night’s NBA draft lottery. Last year they were bad enough to not make the playoffs, but too good to actually have a chance at landing at top draft pick. Or so America thought. Suddenly the Bulls have a chance to pick up a potential star and catapult right back into the league’s elite teams. I’m thrilled, but it isn’t really fair. They’re being rewarded for not living up to expectations. Had they actually played to their talent level, they never would have been in the lottery. So there’s the lesson, kids. Don’t try hard. Underachieve. Get your coach fired. Don’t trade for Pau Gasoll. You’ll be rewarded in the end.
Not that I’m complaining…
Indiana Jones and the Recapturing Of My Youth
Oh God, can’t wait. So Excited. Might vomit. Don’t care if the reviews are mediocre. Hearing that music as the credits roll will make the last 19 years less of a waste of my time. I got a migraine within the first five minutes of Last Crusade, stuck in there until the end just like Indy would have done and immediately afterward puked neon green vomit all over the movie theater bathroom. Ah memories. Come to think of it, I hope seeing Indy on the big screen doesn’t trigger the same response, kind of like what happens when I see or smell vodka.

Softball Failure and Fringe Gardening

Happy Tuesday!
Softball Failure
Well, the regular season (Spring Session) is over. We’re 2-4. I’m not gonna lie to you, I wanted to finish .500. I’m not sure that any theater softball team has ever achieved such a gaudy record and I sure as snot wanted to be associated with such a feat. I would have put it on my resume. We didn’t play poorly yesterday. In fact, we played almost OK, but the other team played a little bit better. We have the playoffs coming up in two weeks, but before I focus on that, I want to look back on the season that was.
*After weeks of speculation between the two, Josh Eakright proved that he was indeed faster than Joe Bozic through the time honored spectacle of the after bar footrace. Jason Bidnas finished 3rd in our race and gave both Joe and Josh a run for their money. Yours truly brought up the rear, ending weeks of speculation on my part that I was the slowest of the three. I love after bar races. They are the heights of male showmanship.
* Joe Bozic is the Lou Piniella of Co-ed recreational softball. The man’s a screamer and demands results. I am also totally impressed with his ability to manage our 30 person roster. That, my friends, is no small task.
*Softball is the most brilliantly fun game in the history of mankind. I love it, and truly hope we sign up for the summer session.
Fringe Gardening
It’s coming along. I’m trying to have the whole thing done by this weekend. That way I can maybe preview it a couple of times. That would be nice. I’ve done a lot of writing in my head while gardening. Turns out the frustration of dandelions really spurs my creative juices. That might be the key.
