Dinner With Fotis Is Up!

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008 | Dinner With Fotis, Plugs, Site News

Well, the first episode of Dinner With Fotis is up. This episode while entertaining, is only part of what I want this show to be. I’ve got the interview part of it down, but it doesn’t have the story feel that I’m really shooting for. Oh well, it’s a process, right? The first episode is with Joe Bozic. It details the history of Ferrari McSpeedy, The light rail and a bunch of other nuggets. Enjoy!

By all means, tell me what you liked and what you didn’t like. Like I said, this is a work in progress.

The theme song is by James Rone. It is awesome.

How can this article contain zero pictures of RoboPig? Unacceptable!

I only listened to the first minute and will listen to the rest later, but I want to say:
1. Love the theme song.
2. I would like to know how long each interview is before I listen to/download it.

Well, this could be just my problem, but when I tried to listen to it, it was sped up into Chipmunk mode. Now I understand this could be an artistic choice, but it was distracting as I kept picturing a chipmunk wearing your glasses.

I too got chipmunk mode.

Dinner with Fotis is confusing me slightly. However I think I’d enjoy it more were I not at work and able to listen to it at full volume. You guys sound like you’re having fun hanging out with a recording mechanism. Much like how I spent my childhood years.

That was not a slam.

I like Dinner With Fotis and the ultimate direction in which it is heading. So much so, that I’d like to be on it one day. Too bad I’m scared of Fotis and broadcasting myself.

Mmm… i want a chocolate q-doba
And that theme song is now totally stuck in my head.

Ok, I listened to it all and have a few comments:

1. Awesome. It was. Very much.
2. There were some volume issues - I wonder how that will work if you are in a noisy restaurant.
3. “How many tours of ‘Nam would that be?” Hi-larious.
4. It may not jive with your intentions for Dinner with Fotis, but it might be neat for you to post who you are next going to interview, and take one question or topic suggestion from your audience.

Brilliant. Hilarious. Bursts of laughter in my cubicle. Annoying my co workers. Laughing some more. Apologizing to my co workers. Sooooo funny. Please keep doing more.

“Antiquing and Mexican food sounds awesome!”

I think, sir, that the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce owes you something.

Like perhaps a gold-plated statue. Or a gift certificate. Or lifting the restraining order.

1) James is amazing with the music. The theme song reminded me of O Brother, Where Art Thou? I pictured wacky adventures, which was a great frame of mind to enter the show in.

2) The format of the show… To start with, it sounded like any other podcast. Maybe a part of that was the fact that you and Joe have worked together before, so you fell into natural patterns… or maybe every podcast has that MPR quality to it that I don’t quite connect with but still listen to because the information is good.

What pulled me back and caught me was your narration. i’m listening at work, so the distraction factor is high. but every time you commented, I was pulled back in.

3) I make a dessert that started off as tiramisu, and is now not tiramisu, but remembers the better qualities of tiramisu. The first thing I changed was the bread layer… there is nothing grosser than soggy bread. I guess my point is that far too many people think they can’t change a food to fit their personal taste. That they have to accept the soggy bread and pretend they like it because that’s what makes that dessert what it is. Bull. Leave it to the Italians to make a chocolate/marzipan/coffee dessert people won’t eat. What was I saying again? Give peace a chance.

4) Bree is smart. Though I don’t want to know who’s next, I agree with everything else.

Oh, one other thing I forgot to say - I thought the side comments were mostly distracting and broke up the flow of the dinner. The one exception was the one about Joe waiting for a laugh that never came. Though I think it would have been funny to just have silence - your audience would have understood.

Chipmunk mode here too. I couldn’t resist listening for a little while though - just in case it was supposed to sound like chipmunks and you would break into the hula hoop song. My brain just isn’t fast enough to understand it at that speed. :)

Bree, I take back my claim that you are smart.

That’s not true. But I bet you listen to a lot more MPR than I do.

Haha, shut it, Jen.

I hate MPR.

I haven’t even listened to the whole thing, but I want in. Oh wait, imaginary food? Fuck that.

Okay, all those mmmms made me feel a leetle dirty. I will stop commenting till I’m all the way through.

And, I’m done. I hate tiramisu too. But I love bread pudding. McLean out.

I’m sorry you felt dirty. I was hoping you’d feel full.

You’re on the show, if you want!
