An Inspirational Story

Happy Tuesday!

1.  Man, the Olympics is filled with nothing but inspirational, heart warming stories. And each story you hear seems to be just a little bit more heart wrenching than the story prior.  Seriously, it’s as if every Olympic athlete was forged via hard work and tragedy.  I hope to hear about the athlete who is quote, “A giant fucking prick. He has never experienced any hardship and punches orphans to gain strength before races.”

2. I ran into Patton Oswalt this morning. I was entering a building in the warehouse district as he was leaving. It wasn’t like we were in a busy part of downtown where such a thing might be a little more expected. Nope. We were entering/leaving a half abandoned warehouse.  I was on my way to a call back for a commercial for the Minnesota lottery. I wonder if he was doing the same thing. I doubt it, but you never know. Very nice guy.  Very soft hands.

Patton Oswalt! That’s weird and awesome.
Did you talk to him?

Even weirder is that he’s supposed to be doing Comedy Death-Ray at UCB-LA tonight.

(Unfortunately I can’t go. There are tens of thousands of Dungeons & Dragons nerds who need attending to in Indianapolis this week.)

Just wrote you a long reply which I slickly knocked off the screen hope this is not a repeat.
Previously I told you about my cousin Sharon’s daughter, Caroline Queen(real name) who finished 14th in the world in Kayaking but did not make it to the Olympics. She is the youngest ever to compete so I imagine we will see her in a future Olympics, hopefully in a country that has not dumped on our economy! Alas, her story is not tragic either except for a few small strands of my clumsiness which may linger in her DNA.
I am starting to get comfortable with the ‘two or three degrees of separation’ we achieve by communicating through your blog.Your father, however, remains glum, this may rise to new levels this weekend when your brother’s family The ‘MaNetteNils’ head for Missouri and the pursuit of Matt’s PHD.
I better close I’m actually trying to get the library ready for school after only 2 months off…need more ink for the book checkout stamp.
I’ll relay your presumed .com regards to ‘whom it may concern’ until we hear from you on the land line!
Love,
Mom
