Chicago, Previews and a Commitment.

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008 | Plugs, book project

Happy Tuesday!

1. The little Chicago warrior is in town! yippee! She sure is the neatest.

2. I am in tech for the BNW’s latest Holiday Extravaganza, All I Want For Christmas Is 700 Billion Dollars; Our 50th Noel. This is going to be one heck of a good show! If you like Santa, tampons, cooks, elves and boobies mixed with your pine scented potpourri then this show will be right up your alley.  Previews start this Thursday.

3. For those of you who are wondering if the cookbook is still on, it is. I am just ridiculously busy right now. It’ll happen. Maybe it’ll be a website? Yeah. Maybe.

The website is a good idea. You could actually sell hard-copy cookbooks through print-on-demand services online, cutting your production costs, but still keeping the option available to anyone who still has the drive to read words printed on paper rather than their monitors.

I vote book over website.

You’ve already done a website…

I vote book too. Although websites are much easier.

Well, I agree with Phil that you should definitely do on-demand printing and maybe have an e-book version.

But I’d like to see this thing worked on and worked on and then unveiled all at once. I think it will shape up to be tighter and more thematically coherent.

With a website approach, I worry that it will become an intermittently-updated blog-style project with no real deadline or deliverable.

Set the page count low, get someone to chip in on some light graphic design and self-publish.

Those are my expanded thoughts.

-Tom, who’s pretty free with the advice when handing out work he doesn’t have to do.

I agree with Tom.

Please don’t hold that against me.
