Puppy Harnesses and The Quest For A Cheap Trunk.

Happy Wednesday!

1.  The puppy now has a harness leash. She looks like a little canine para trooper.  It’s a little big on her, but it does the trick. And let’s face facts here people. In a week she will fit into it snug as a bug.  She now walks beside me like a little angel on our excursions through the north end of Minneapolis.  As a bonus, she’s sort of terrified of the harness, so last night when I caught her eating the coffee table, I just popped that sucker on her and boom! Maddie laid in her new bed and chewed on a stick for the rest of the night, trembling with fear that the “harness monster” attached to her would would attack. Because of the harness my home was a fucking Rockwell painting.

MONSTER!!!!!!!!!

2. Why are trunks so expensive? I’m not talking about amputated elephant trunks, because I get why that would be expensive. I’m talking about boxes with latched lids. Anybody know of any stores that sell cheap trunks?

I would think that Pier One is probably the king of places to buy trunks. I don’t know what “expensive” is in your world though? I’d check Craig’s List, too.

  2. Bree says:

I have a harness for my cats, but they are not so interested in going on walks (they really just turned into “drags”). However, if they are ever rotten, all I need to do is stuff them in the harness and the default behavior for them is to lay down and not move. It’s great.

Did you try the Army surplus for trunks?

  4. mike fotis says:

Thami-I’m not sure what expensive is either, but the cheapest I’ve seen is like 50 bucks. I can’t pay that much for a box. I just can’t. But I will try Pier 1!

    Jill-That’s a brilliant idea.

Bree-My dog just has no idea how to handle the harness. It’s adorasad.

If you can wait, trunks go on sale around Aug for kids moving to college. Try Bed Bath Beyond type places, I think I paid 20 bucks for a coffee table sized trunk. I say coffee table because that’s what I currently use mine for :)

  6. Katharine says:

You’re not planning to put the puppy in the trunk, are you?

Target usually gets trunks for back to school…and they are cheaply-enough made that the puppy could probably chew her way out.

  7. Sam says:

C-list yo. You can find anything on there. Although you are right. Most trunks are $50. Except for this one! http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/fuo/1207502698.html

    Thanks guys!

  9. Allana says:

Trunks go for pretty cheap at thrift stores. $10-15 usually and most thrift stores always have one in stock.
