Fighting Off The Sad With Hammers

Happy Monday.

1. One of the pitfalls of living in a minor market city is that so many people leave for bigger cities, eager to see what that city can offer them. Such moves makes sense and I don’t knock anybody for it, but it’s left a little gap in my life yet again.  There are days when I wished I still lived in Chicago. Today that feeling has never been stronger. Today I feel lonely, my age and the weight of home ownership. Oh well. Tomorrow will be a gipper of a day, no doubt.

2. Project update! In order to distract myself from the above written and lest I fall into Junior High Journal writing twice in one blog/lifetime, I am diving full on into some home repair projects. Today I will be sealing off any place on my second floor in which a bat could possibly enter. Hopefully. There are no guarantees, but at least my solution will cost me thousands dollars less than the pest guy.  In other words, lots of tape, trim and nails. Don’t worry, it sounds haphazard but it’s not. It’ll work like red on a lady bug.

Thursday I move onto the Kitchen! I will not be fucking with my cabinets. Thanks to all of you who’ve offered your assistance, but the cabinets I have are in good shape and will work with the color scheme I’ve chosen.  BUT I do think I want to replace the overhead light in my kitchen with something a bit classier. I think I know how to do it, it’s not like I’m putting in wiring, but I’ll be honest with you, I may be fried.  On the plus side, tiling up a backsplash is going to be a piece of cake! Maybe I’ll do that before the lighting stuff.

From there, I move onto my living room.  After doing some reading on living in small spaces, I’ve learned two things. One, I need millions of dollars. Second, wall shelving is my friend. I’m glad to hear this, as I am not a fan of free standing bookcases. Where am I going with this? I have no idea. But soon my living room will be fucking awesome.
