Performances:

Friday October 16 9pm
Sunday October 18 330pm

Produced by Nimbus Theatre and presented as a double bill with “Crescendo”, a whup ass one person show starring Allegra Lingo!

3. Last night I made curry, and by made I mean that I poured a jar of “Curry Stuff” on top of my meat and vegetables. It was in no way cooking, unless for some reason I see someone do the exact same thing on Top Chef.

Rockstar Show This Weekend!!!! Also Great Deals At The BNW! Top Chef!

Posted in BNW, Plugs, Solo Comedy on September 11th, 2009 by Mike Fotis – 11 Comments

Happy Friday!

1. Many, if not all of you have seen me fail with a lower case “f”.  But this Sunday at the opening show of the new Rockstar Storyteller season, I am aiming to graduate to a fail with a giant fucking capital “F”! You see, I will be attempting fiction for the first time this Sunday! Actually, the story I’m working on is pretty funny, and hey, it’s always fun to try something new, right?  We’re all taking on different genres. Mine is westerns. Get ready for glorious descriptions of tumbleweed from yours truly.

I’ve decided to take my solo career a bit more seriously.  Want proof? I’m NOT watching the Bears season opener to do this show. That’s commitment.

Anyhoo, here’s the deets:

Sunday at 7 p.m. (doors at 6 p.m.). Tickets are $12, or $10 if you have a Fringe button.

2.  In other news, if you haven’t caught the BNW’s latest show, The Brave New Workshop Saves The Planet; Or Yes We Can, But Do We Have To?, you really should. It’s quite the delightful ride to funny town.  In fact, I have 5 free comps to the shows this weekend.  To claim them, just let me know in the comments section of this post. First come, first serve.  The tickets are good for any show (Friday @ 8pm, Saturday @7pm & 10)  this weekend.

I am awesome.

3. You may have noticed I have not been live blogging this season of Top Chef.  The reason for this is that I now teach class on Wednesdays. I have one more class left and then hopefully I can hop back onto the live chat train. Unless you guys hate that.  So far, this season is shaping up to be a doozy! I am especially attracted to contestant Jennifer Carroll who is equal parts laid back, hot and mean. Also, she is a good chef.

Blogs You May Like

Posted in Plugs on February 3rd, 2009 by Mike Fotis – 1 Comment

Happy Tuesday! I am currently in tech week for the BNW’s latest comedy explosion, How To Make Love Like A Minnesotan: Sleepless In Shakopee. If you’re not good at gathering information from titles and need a little help, the show is all about love, sex and relationships. It’s gonna be great, however the rigors of tech week have once again turned my brain to mush, so today’s blog is going to be links to other blogs you may fancy.  That’s right. I’m creating content by offering you links to other content.  LAZY! I’m not listing blogs already on my blogroll. I’m listing new stuff. Ok, here you go.

1. My roommate Bobby now has a blog. It is brilliant on many levels, but mainly for its profile picture of the author. If you’ve ever wondered what the life of a man who almost never wakes up before noon is like, then this blog is for you. Read it before he loses interest.

2. howwastheshow.com is maybe the most comprehensive site about the TC arts scene that I have ever come across.  Give it a read, it’s quite simply put a very professional and entertaining site. You know, a change of pace from the blach I offer. I am 99% sure it is run by David DeYoung, whose father interestingly enough was my theater professor way back in the day.

3. minneapolisimprov.com is a great message board focusing on the TC improv scene. It has tons of info about classes and shows and is just a fun place to hang out. If you’ve ever been curious about this scene, then this site is for you.  Plus if you do a little digging, you’ll find an archive of thousands of potential improv team names.  Be warned, every single team name I offered is a horrible idea and shouldn’t be used. Unless you want your team to be awesome.

More tomorrow!
