Fotis + Anderson=Foterson, And I Sample The Sample Room

Happy Monday!

1. Tonight I’m playing with Lauren Anderson in a little group we like to call Foterson.  It’s some of the most savage, mean and beautiful improv you will ever see.  It’s part of The Splendid Things show at the Bryant lake Bowl. Tonight. 8pm.

You should come.

2. Last night I had dinner at the Sample Room, which is a delightful little restaurant in the heart of Hipsterville, aka Northeast.  I recommend it. But be warned fellow cheapsters, it ain’t cheap.  Sure at first blush, it seems cheap, but in truth it operates a lot like Ikea, meaning that each individual part seems to be a good value until you get to checkout and realize that you just spent 35, 000 dollars on a lamp.  Whatever, the pork- bison – something else I can’t remember 3 meat meatloaf was a delight. And the secret ingredient in their flourless chocolate cake might be crack.

You should go!

1. Yes, the website has a new layout. Good eye.

2.  “An Intimate Evening With Fotis Part III: Fotis Party Time Explosion” starts this Thursday at 9pm. It’s at the Theater Garage.  It’s a very funny show.

Friday October 16 9pm
Sunday October 18 330pm

Produced by Nimbus Theatre and presented as a double bill with “Crescendo”, a whup ass one person show starring Allegra Lingo!

Tickets $12, $10 with Fringe button (or $20 / $18 when you see both shows together!).

More information can be found here:

3. Last night I made curry, and by made I mean that I poured a jar of “Curry Stuff” on top of my meat and vegetables. It was in no way cooking, unless for some reason I see someone do the exact same thing on Top Chef.

PIZZAZZ!

Happy Tuesday!

1. Dear Presto Pizzazz pizza maker. I love you. I love you so much.  You, much like an angel would, lovingly blow hot air on my frozen pizza until the cheese is melty and the crust is crispy.

That is all for today.

Baklava

Happy Wednesday!

1. This may not come as a surprise to anyone, but I am a big fan of baklava. Soho Cafe near the corner of 26th and Hennepin in Uptown, serves a fine wedge of the stuff. How fine? Let’s just say I ate it before I ate my two slices of Soho cheese pizza.

I hate myself for what I just wrote. Not because of my terrible eating habits, but because I couldn’t come up with anything better to write about.

Really. That’s all I’ve got today. I like food. Yup……………………….wow.

Mike Gets Up Early, Shoots a Commercial, Talks About Cooking, Then Rips The Stupidest Show On TV.

Happy Friday!

1. For those of you who remember my NAPA auto parts ad from a year ago* and have been wondering when, if ever again, you were going to see such subtle and moving on camera acting, fear not. I just shot another one this morning.  It was great fun and Comcast has been really great to me over the last few years. Keep an eye out for it! And take notes. It’s rare that you get to watch a master at work.

2. I’ve really gotta get going on that cookbook. I’ve been plucking along adding a recipe here and a recipe there, but if I want this thing to be done sometime within the next decade, I need to get a move on.

3. Did anyone catch Hell’s Kitchen last night? No? Must be because that show’s retarded! OUCH!
